AN ADDITIONAL CHALLENGE
Post coach Lindberg to direct the Knights

MASPETH, QUEENS -- C.W. Post men's coach Andreas Lindberg has accepted a coaching position with the Brooklyn Knights of the Premier Development League. This position will be in addition to his duties as head coach of the Post team.

“We are excited to have Andreas begin as head coach of the Brooklyn Knights,” Knights president Jim Vogt said. “As a player, then coach who came up through the Met Oval system, we give him full support in this venture and expect some great results.”

Lindberg is in the midst of one of the finest seasons in the men's soccer program history, as the Pioneers are 11-0-1 and ranked third in the nation in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll. Since taking over as head coach in 2009, Lindberg has pointed the program in the right direction, winning an ECC Championship and earning coach of the year accolades in his first season. The Pioneers have qualified for the ECC Championships in each of his first two seasons and are primed for a return to the conference championships as well as an NCAA run this season.

“I am excited for this opportunity,” Lindberg said. “I am looking forward to continuing the success of a team that I played for, this time as a coach.”

A former player for the Knights, Lindberg captained the team in 2006 before retiring from playing. The team plays its home games at the Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth, competing in the Mid Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.
