Magic's Sherman player of the week

New York Magic forward Rashidah Sherman was named the W-League player of the week on Wednesday.

Sherman, 2010 W-League rookie of the year, picked up where she left off in 2010, surging to the top of the league’s scoring charts with a hat-trick in a 3-0 win against the New Jersey Rangers.

Sherman raced by opponents last year with her blistering speed and scored goals with her deadly finishing. She began this season by showing she hadn’t lost a step.

“We are still looking for somebody who can stop her,” Magic coach Nino DePasquali said. “From the first touch on the ball she is uncatchable.”

Goalkeeper Aleta Smith also played a big part in the Magic victory, making eight saves.
