NEW TEAM GROWS IN BROOKLYN
Euro-N.Y. Magic to be unveiled tomorrow
The Brooklyn Knights may be gone, but that doesn't mean there won't be a team representing the borough in the Premier Development League this season.
On Saturday, a new PDL team will be introduced to the area -- FA Euro-N.Y. Magic.
The team is a merger between the Brooklyn-based youth soccer club, FA Euro, with the N.Y. Magic of Manhattan. The Magic perform in the W-League.
The new team, however, will be a men's team.
At a press conference at the New Utrecht High School auditorium, the management of the team will unveil the club logo and formally announce that it has been awarded a PDL franchise.
The press conference also will include a brief presentation including the history of both clubs, the direction of the youth programs for boys and girls and an award ceremony honoring individuals who have contributed to the organization.
FA Euro-N.Y. Magic will play in the Eastern Conference in the Mid-Atlantic Division.
That division includes the Baltimore Bohemians, Bermuda Hogges, Central Jersey Spartans, Jersey Express, Long Island Rough Riders, NJ LUSO Rangers FC, Ocean City Nor'easters, Reading United AC and Westchester Flames.
The team will make its PDL debut at the New Jersey Rangers on Sunday, May 12. It's home opener is set for Sunday, May 26 against Reading AC at a site to be determined.
