HEMPSTEAD, NY--Meghan Lenczyk scored her third goal of the season to give the New York Fury a 1-0 win over the ASA Chesapeake Charge in a WPSL Elite game at Hofstra University Thursday night.

Lenczyk settled a ball from Leigh Ann Robinson midway through the first half for the only goal of the game. She has now scored in two of the last three Fury games, both wins.

"We needed the three points and the positive thing is Allie Long and Gina DiMartino are on the road to full fitness," Fury coach Paul Riley said. "The goal we scored was certainly top shelf. I just wish we could reproduce that kind of play more often in the 90 minutes.” The Fury created plenty of chances, but had a hard time finding the back of the net, outshooting the Charge 9-3.

New York goalkeeper Michelle Betos posted her sixth shutout of the season as the Fury improved to 6-3-1, 19 pts, while Chesapeake fell to 1-7-1, 4pts.

"Clean sheet for Betos is another positive and we keep plugging along getting closer to a playoff spot. Big game next up against Mutiny, " said Riley, referring to next Tuesday's home game (7pm Hofstra).
