April 16, 2014 THE SHORT CORNER
What we liked and didn't like
The Red Bulls won on Wednesday night (finally!) in a match that wasn't always pretty but got the end result. Now with that first win under their belt, New York heads into a weekend without soccer to get ready for the Houston Dynamo next Wednesday night.
April 16, 2014 THANKS, THEY NEEDED THAT
Red Bulls secure 1st win of the season
Finally, a win from New York, which got into the 'W' column on Wednesday night in a 2-1 home result over derby rival Philadelphia Union. That the Red Bulls needed this result is a bit of an understatement, even if they won't admit to it.
April 16, 2014 THE FIRST ONE
Henry, Sam score as Red Bulls edge Union
One thing is certain for the Red Bulls this season. They won't tie the LA Galaxy for futility by a defending Supporters Shield champion. In 2003, the Galaxy endured an eight-game winless streak at the start of the MLS season after winning the regular-season crown the prior season. Thanks to goals by Thierry Henry and Lloyd Sam and some playmaking by Eric Alexander, the Red Bulls snapped their season-opening skid at six games with a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union before 14,768 at Red Bull Arena Wednesday night.
April 15, 2014 DALLAS BOUND
Miazga leaves for Dallas Cup
After being held back by the Red Bulls so that he could be part of their gameday roster for this past weekend, Matt Miazga has been released by the club to the join the U.S. Under-20 national team for the Dallas Cup.

Petke: This season is not like 2011
After a 1-0 loss at D.C. United, it is clear that last year's Supporters Shield winning side is in a funk and in need of a victory. But head coach Mike Petke doesn't see a side in panic and he doesn't see parallels to a Red Bulls side from three years ago that underwhelmed despite high expectations.
April 14, 2014 'THEY'RE KNOCKING ON THE DOOR'
Petke pleased with Cahill's Armando's progress
In a rare bit of recent good news for the Red Bulls, Tim Cahill returned to the practice field on Monday after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. He was joined by central defender Armando as both players make a bid for inclusion in the gameday roster Wednesday night against the Union.
