BULL ARE NOT FOR SALE
Garber on the internet rumor

Don Garber said the Red Bulls are not for sale.
Harrison, N.J. -- MLS commissioner Don Garber could not have been more emphatic, using words and phrases as "total nonesense," "crazy" and "patently untrue." The Red Bulls are not for sale.

Speaking after the Red Bulls' top-off ceremony Tuesday, Garber said denounced internet rumors that the Red Bulls were for sale.

"That is total, total nonesense," he said. "I got a call about it yesterday. I don't know where it came from. Just patently untrue. That would be a very expensive acquistion. I don't know who on earth is going to do that."

Garber laughed, but he was dead serious.

"It's not true," he said.

"I believe in blogs and I believe it's going to be what the future of media is going to be, particularly in the sports business," he added. "But sometimes there are things on there that people just throw out and create controversy and create stories. And that one is not remotely close to the true thing. It's not worth commenting on."

But he did anyway.

"This isn't even a story," Garber said. "It's not for sale. It's one of those things that comes out; some guy in his pajamas sitting in his kitchen and says 'What kind of story can I write before they have a big announcement?' It's crazy, absoltutely untrue. The team is not for sale."
