Ernst Oebster is a former Red Bull today.

The Red Bulls terminated the contract of the Austrian midfielder Wednesday, according to www.sportsnet.at.

"I have no problem with that, I'm actually glad," Oebster was quoted by the website.

Oebster had moved his girlfriend and newborn baby to the United States.

"My girlfriend felt uncomfortable," he told www.sportsnet.at. "My people go from home. In New York I was her only caregiver. That should be no excuse, but it [helped make] my decision."

Still, Oebster said he would not change a thing.

"I am richer by a huge life experience," Oebster was quoted by the website. "I would [do] exactly the same again. Not everyone gets the chance to play in New York."

During his short stint with the Red Bulls, the 26-year-old Oebster played in three games, starting in two, and logged 157 minutes.

The Red Bulls obtained Oebster from their sister organization in Austria, Red Bull Salzburg.
