Red Bulls goalkeeper Frank Rost will miss Saturday's home game against the Chicago Fire with a right quadriceps tear, meaning that backup Bouna Coundoul will start for the MLS team.

The Red Bulls made the announcement late Tuesday afternoon.

Right fullback Jan Gunnar Solli is questionable with a right quadriceps strain.

Rost's health will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, a club spokesman said.

Red Bulls coach Hans Backe was concerned about Coundoul's mental state, because the keeper made a roundtrip to Dakar, Senegal for an international match against Morocco on Wednesday. Coubdoul replaced an ailing Rost at halftime of the Red Bulls' 3-0 defeat at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

"He is now traveling a lot," Red Bulls coach Hans Backe said after practice at Montclair State University on Monday. "He will arrive hopefully, if we're lucky, Thursday evening. With that travel schedule, you will have a fatigued guy, even if its more about focus then for a goalie."

Backe said he did not see Rost injure himself.

"But I heard after the game [that] he stretched for a back pass from one of the back four guys," he said. "He had to stretch or otherwise we would have given away a corner. Then when he stretched full stretch, it just banged his quad.".
