UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Uncertain on Wenesday that he could count on teenage striker Juan Agudelo for this Saturday’s match in Los Angeles, Red Bulls coach Hans Backe seems certain that his thin crop of forwards has gotten a little deeper.

In training action at Montclair State University on Thursday, Agudelo participated fully with the team, including possession games and small-sided drills. Agudelo seems likely to travel with the Red Bulls and make the bench for the team’s glamor fixture at the Home Depot Center.

The forward injured his knee six months ago while training in Germany then aggravated it further last month in an Olympic Qualifier against Cuba. He’s been limited to just one MLS appearance this season.

“Twenty minutes, I would guess. 20-25 minutes,” Backe said of Agudelo’s availability.

Agudelo was joined in training by right back Jan Gunnar Solli, who looks like a certain starter against the Galaxy.
The injury list might be getting shorter for Backe, who could welcome back left back Roy Miller next week as well as defender Wilman Conde and midfielder Teemu Tainio shortly thereafter.

“Roy will definitely train on Monday so he’ll definitely be available for Wednesday game,” Backe said.

“Wilman, it looks like he’s doing very well now; seems like probably at the end of next week he could join us for our sessions.”

Backe said that Conde will not play next week when the Red Bulls host Houston midweek or travel to Philadelphia on Sunday. He did say that Tainio could be back in “Two to three weeks.”
