Yellow card bounces Richards from United game on Sunday

VANCOUVER -- Before they discovered the result of their Wednesday night encounter at the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Red Bulls suffered a loss for Sunday's key home match against D.C. United.

Fleet right midfielder Dane Richards will miss the match with yellow-card accumulation after he was awarded a card for elbowing Whitecaps midfielder Gershon Koffie in the 14th minute of the Major League Soccer match at BC Place.

The Jamaican international entered the game needing another yellow card for a suspension.

Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty also entered the game trying to avoid a yellow card and a subsequent ban.
