FINISHING ON A WINNING NOTE
Red Bulls reserves top Toronto in season finale
MONTCLAIR, N.J. The Red Bulls completed their MLS Reserve League season with a 3-1 victory over Toronto FC at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field Sunday morning.
The Red Bulls (6-2-2, 20 points) took the lead in the 11th minute when Toronto FCs Dicoy Williams deflected a New York cross into his own net.
The visitors equalized 15 minutes later. Forward Keith Makubuya had possession in the left side of the penalty area and drove a pass towards the back post that Andrew Weideman slid in from close range.
New York reclaimed the lead in the 36th minute. Jose Angulo won the ball in midfield and drove down the left wing before delivering a low cross into the box that Red Bull Academy player Armando Moreno tapped home.
The Red Bulls added an insurance tally two minutes from full time, as Joe Cullen brought down a Nicki Paterson corner kick and Angulo fired the loose ball into the top corner of the net.
