Red Bulls to honor Jones at Saturday's game
The Red Bulls will honor the life of Red Bulls youth training programs coach Michael Jones at Saturday's home game at Red Bull Arena against Sporting Kansas City.
Jones was killed on Sunday, Oct. 7 in New York City. He was 25.
Prior to kickoff, the club will ask all fans for a minute of celebration and applause to honor Jones, as a photo montage will be shown in memory of his life and the work he did in his five-plus years with the Red Bulls’ youth programs.
All Red Bulls players will wear black armbands and the No. 6 on their shorts, the number Jones wore throughout his playing career.
Fans cab pass along condolences to Jones’ family by stopping by the Youth Training Programs tent in the Interactive Zone outside the arena on Riverbend Drive starting at 5:30 p.m..
Armonk United SC, the club team he was coaching at the time of the tragedy, has created a special memorial fund in Jones’ honor. To learn more and to see how you can help, visit www.mikejonesmemorialfund.com.
