Red Bulls to host United in Eastern Conference semifinal playoff opener

The Red Bulls will host D.C. United at Red Bull Arena the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals series at 8 p.m. on Saturday, the Major League Soccer team announced on Sunday.
The series will be decided by aggregate goals.
The second leg will be held at RFK Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. Broadcast information is still to be announced.
The team that scores the most goals between the two matches will advance to the two-leg conference ffinal, where it will face the winner of the Sporting Kansas City-Chicago Fire/Houston Dynamo series.
The Red Bulls (16-9-9, 57 points) secured the third seed in the conference after their 3-0 away win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday afternoon. New York will face second-seeded D.C. United (17-10-7, 58). The Bulls went 1-1-1 this season against United, most recently tying D.C. 2-2 on Aug. 29 at RFK Stadium.
