Sounds like Red Bulls have a discovery claim on Juninho Pernambucano
No deal has been reached yet, but the Red Bulls are still interested in Vasco da Gama midfielder Juninho Pernambucano, according to GloboEsporte.com. In fact, they are so interested that it sounds like the club made a discovery claim on the 38-year-old player.
The sports wesbite of Globo.com reported on Thursday that Juninho had a type of pre-registration with Major League Soccer, according to his manager, Jose Fuentes. That would not allow any other team to negotiate with Juninho while the Red Bulls are in talks with the Brazilian.
While the story did not say it exactly, but the process sounds like the Red Bulls put in a discovery claim on Juninho.
Juninho told the website that he "spoke with the [Red Bulls] president and I am awaiting."
That would be Jerome de Bontin.
GloboEsporte.com said the Juninho's situation was "a very complicated, difficult." It added that there were "family factors, personal challenges."
On Tuesday, Futnet.com reported that Juninho Pernambucano was made an offer by his team, Vasco da Gama. The Brazilian club has offered the 38-year-old midfielder a salary of $644,000 a month in a one-year deal, according to Futnet.com. Juninho also would receive $322,000 another as a director/ambassador over two years, the website reported on Tuesday.
