Victor Palsson is a Red Bull no longer.

The defensive midfielder told Icelandic Radio on Friday that his contract with the Red Bulls has been cancelled.

The Red Bulls, who continued to clean house, had loaned the Icelandic youth international to NEC in the Dutch First Division in August through May 2013. Icelandic Radio also reported that a contract for Palsson was on the table.

Palsson, 21, endured a disappointing one-year tenure with the Red Bulls as he experienced a difficult time acclimating himself to Major League soccer.

He played in 16 games, starting four, taking in 463 minutes of action. He did not record a goal or an assist. He did earn three yellow cards and one red card. The 6-1, 170-lb. Palsson also caused 12 fouls.

Palsson has scored twice and accrued a red card during his time with NEC.
