Richards plays for Burnley in FA Cup loss

BARNSLEY, England — Jamaican international Dane Richards made his debut for Burnley in its 1-0 loss to Barnsley in the third round of the English F.A. Cup on Saturday.

The defeat eliminated the Clarets from the competition.

Richards, who performed for the Red Bulls and Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer, replaced Ross Wallace in the 68th minute.

Two bursts of speed by the Jamaican speedster produced a pair of corner kicks for the visitors several minutes later, but they could not convert.

Danny Rose scored the game-winner for Barnsley in the 86th minute.
