Sousa leaves Hungarian club as manager; is next step the Red Bulls
Videotown FC manager Paulo Sousa is leaving the Hungarian club, the team announced on Monday.
Sousa, a former Portuguese international, could be named the new Red Bulls coach. ESPN commentator Alexi Lalas reported on his podcast, The Shot, on Saturday that Sousa would likely named the new Red Bulls coach, according to sources.
"It is with sadness that we have to announce, following our successful autumn season . . . that the management of Videoton FC and Paulo Sousa have broken up the current contract, a statement on the club's website said. "Paulo Sousa has decided to leave our football club due to family reasons."
The Red Bulls have been without a coach since Hans Backe was told on Nov. 9 his contract would be not extended.
