Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill won't be loan to Sunderland, according to several media outlets in England.
The English Premier League club has given up its quest to take the Australian international on a six-week loan this month, the Daily Mail reported, among other reports.
The 33-year-old Cahill, who joined the Red Bulls as a designated player in July, attracted interest from Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa.
Sunderland has been trying to bolster its team, particularly its attack.
Cahill joined the Red Bulls from Everton after playing eight seasons for Everton, where he scored 68 goals in 278 matches.
