Cahill spashes water on rumors he's leaving Bulls

By Kristian R. Dyer Contributing Editor

HARRISON, N.J. – Despite rumors that he might be headed to the A-League and glamour side Sydney FC, Red Bills midfielder Tim Cahill splashed cold water on those rumors Friday afternoon. There's no substance to him leaving MLS.

Cahill scored twice for Australia while in Brazil and during his time at the World Cup, a report appeared that linked him to play in Australia. A request for comment by to Sydney FC, the rumored club interested in Cahill, went unanswered.

But the center of those rumors certainly didn't fan the flames on Friday, essentially refusing to entertain the question.

“I don't respond to speculation,” Cahill told “Talk to Andy.” did just that last week, speaking to sporting director Andy Roxburgh specifically about Cahill. Last Wednesday, he said of the rumors of a possible move for the Red Bulls Designated Player as something where “There's no communication through Tim or another club. No one has reached out to us.”

Put this one away in the "Silly Season File."
