Christianson back with Red Bulls after loan

HANOVER, N.J. – After a month-long loan with Orlando in the USL Pro, second-year midfielder Ian Christianson is back with the Red Bulls and has been training with the club this week.

Christianson, who has yet to suit up for the Red Bulls in a competitive match, suffered a slight calf injury while on loan and is now back with New York.

“Apparently he did well with the loan. He got alittle bit of an injury which is why he came back to rehab with us. He's looking good, I like Ian. We all do. We got him out there to get some games,” head coach Mike Petke said. “Now he's back with us for the time being. Hopefully he can be impact player for us whether it be in Champions League or off the bench.”

He made just one appearance with Orlando but earned strong reviews for that performance.

As for Tuesday's CONCACAF Champions League match, Petke was uncertain if, given the terms of his loan, if Christianson could make an appearance. He first wants to make sure that Christianson is fit and healthy before making any determinations.

But if it works out, Petke said that “I'd love to have him available.”
