Deviated septum surgery sidelines Convey

HARRISON, N.J. - Red Bulls Bobby Convey underwent successful surgery to repair a deviated septum at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, N.J. Thursday.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Christopher Shaari. Convey is expected to miss from training from three to five weeks while recovering.

Convey has made 13 appearances (nine starts) for the Red Bulls this season and made an appearance in New York's Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup game, a 3-0 away loss to the Cosmos, on June 14.

In his 12th season in Major League Soccer, Convey has made 217 career appearances with D.C. United, the San Jose Earthquakes, Sporting Kansas City, Toronto FC and the Red Bulls. Convey is three starts shy of 200 for his career and has scored 13 goals while recording 36 assists.

Convey was signed by the Red Bulls after his rights were traded from Toronto last Dec. 13.
