February 10, 2010 WHEN NO. 13 IS LUCKY Etienne among top USL-2 decade players
Former Long Island Rough Riders forward Derrick Etienne recently was selected No. 13 among the top players of the decade of the United Soccer Leagues Second Division.
Etienne, who played with the Rough Riders along with his identical twin brother Darrell, connected for 15 goals as the club turned around a 6-16-4 finish in the First Division in 2001 into a 13-6-1 record and a championship in the Second Division in 2002.
He also was named to the All-League team.
In 2003, Etienne struck for 10 goals in 2003 and added 11 the next season and nine in 2005.
Etienne is now a pastor with Darrell at the Latter Glory Church in New Jersey.
