Riders host Falcons with noon camp day kickoff
The Long Island Rough Riders will hold their annual Camp Day on Wednesday, July 7, with an unusual kickoff time of noon against the Jersey Falcons to accommodate the thousands of kids who will attend the game at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, L.I.
The game is open to all soccer fans, not just campers.
Wednesday's game will be the Riders' second against a Premier Development team, winning the first encounter, 1-0 over the New Jersey Stallions on May 22.
All Pro Soccer League teams are required to have a minimum number of PDL games scheduled, and the results have surprising. To date, only 21 of the 49 inter-league matchups have been won by the PSL team.
The Riders (3-8-1) will face the struggling Falcons (1-11) twice this week, playing the return leg at Roselle Catholic School in Roselle, N.J. at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Riders' two-gamd winning streak was snapped in a 2-1 loss at the Westchester Flames on Sunday.
In other team developments, the Riders have released Pedro Fragoso, Robert Brennan and Joe Ragusa due to personal commitments.
