October 5, 2009 TOUGH LOSS Injury sidelines Costa Rica midfielder
Costa Rica, which is in fourth place in the CONCACAF hexagonal for World Cup qualifying, suffered a tough blow over the weekend when it lost midfielder Celso Borges.
Borges, who has scored five goals in 15 international appearances, was injured in the 70th minute playing for his club Fredrikstad against Stabaek in Norway.
No replacement has been named.
If the U.S. loses in Honduras Saturday, it still can qualify for its sixth consecutive World Cup if Costa Rica loses to Trinidad & Tobago.
