KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- Expect a lot of players wearing the red, white and blue for the United States next year.

That's because the U.S. will not only try to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, it will participate in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

There is no way coach Juergen Klinsmann will use the same players in qualifying for three June matches and then in the Gold Cup, which will be played in July because Mexico will play at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil from June 15-30.

After the U.S. defeated Guatemala, 3-1, in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday night, to book a spot in year's hexagonal Klinsmann said that 2013 "will be very busy for us."

He noted that the team will play friendlies, WC qualifying and the Gold Cup.

"We have to build two rosters for that because we can’t have the players do both," Klinsmann said. "That’s good to see that we have players now coming through MLS, they are knocking at the door and getting stronger in MLS."

Klinsmann said he and his coaching staff had not yet figured out on they will coordinate the qualifiers and Gold Cup.

“We don’t know how we’re going to manage that whole thing," he said. "It’s more down to how their own schedule looks like and what league they play in and how does the league work and we have to put that puzzle together. It’s not going to be an easy one.”
