FRANCE : HOW THEY QUALIFIED

France went undefeated (5-0-5, 20 points) to capture European Group 4. But that doesn't mean the French didn't struggle. They did -- mightily -- playing to a pair of draws each with Switzerland and Israel, who finished with 18 points apiece. The French cruised to a 4-1 victory over Cyprus to clinch a spot in Germany on October 12, 2005 as Zinedine Zidane, Sylvain Wiltord and Vikash Dhorasoo connected in the first half and substitute Ludovic Giuly added a fourth goal late in the match.
