PORTUGAL : HOW THEY QUALIFIED

Portugal wound up unbeaten in European Group 3 with a 9-3-0 record and 27 points, scoring an incredible 35 goals and tying the Czech Republic for the Euro lead. The Portuguese, who played little Liechtenstein to a 2-2 tie in 2004, clinched a spot with a 2-1 victory over the minnows almost to the day a year later. After falling to a 1-0 halftime deficit, the Portuguese rallied in the second half behind goals by Pauleta and Nuno Gomes. Luis Figo missed a penalty kick.
