SERBIA-MONTENEGRO WORLD CUP HISTORY

Officially, there is none. But under its previous, Yugoslavia name, the country made nine appearances.

In 1962, the Yugoslavians also reached the semifinals before losing to Czechoslovakia, 3-1, and wound up finishing fourth. They rolled to a 9-0 win over Zaire when Germany last hosted the tournament in 1974.

Their best recent overall performance occurred at Italia '90, when they outplayed Argentina in a scoreless quarterfinal confrontation before being eliminated via a penalty-kick shootout, 3-2.

In their most recent appearance at France '98, Yugoslavia finished with a 2-1 opening round record, defeating the U.S. and Iran by 1-0 shutouts and tying Germany, 2-2 before losing to the Netherlands in the second round, 2-1.
