Berlin -- This may be a moot point because it is after the fact, but U.S. midfielder Pablo Mastroeni has been suspended three games for his red card in the 1-1 tie with Italy last week.

Since the U.S. has been eliminated, it was not immediately know if that will affect Mastroeni for future qualifiers or the 2010 competition, if the U.S. qualifies for a sixth consecutive time.

Mastroeni was given a straight red card for his ill-advised diving tackle on Andrea Pirlo in Kaiserslautern.
