U.S. VS. ITALY?
Italian coach says it will happen on Feb. 29
Sometimes you get information from the most unlikely place. Take, for example, what occurred on Wednesday when Italy national coach Cesare Prandelli said when he spoke of Antonio Di Natale. Prandelli said that he would be recalling the striker back to the team “for the game against the USA in February.”

THANKING A GOOD FRIEND
Bob Bradley lauds Manfred Schellscheidt
Jim Barlow, the Princeton soccer coach, emailed me last week with the news that Manfred Schellscheidt was stepping down as soccer coach at Seton Hall University. I immediately dialed Manfred's number like I have done thousands of times the last 24 years, and heard my friend's voice answer, "Seton Hall soccer office."

Talk about taking on a minnow. The United States will open its qualifying for the 2014 World Cup with a match against tiny Antigua & Barbuda, which at approximately 88,000 inhabitants has the smallest population of any country remaining in the CONCACAF qualifyers.

IN SEARCH OF . . .
A younger backup for GK Howard
When he looks at the U.S. National Team goalkeeper depth chart, coach Juergen Klinsmann is worried. After Tim Howard, he feels there is a great drop off, especially in the next generation of goalkeepers. While the former MetroStars standout is 32-years-old and is in his prime and shows nothing that he is slowing down, Klinsmann wants to know where the next quality backup and his heir apparent is.
