Middle Country 3, Ramapo Valley 2

The Middle Country ISA Cruzers defeated the Ramapo Valley Tornadoes ‘94 Red, 3-2, to win the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Boys Under-18 title at Stringham Park in La Grange, N.Y. on June 3.

Justin “Shaggy” Fitzpatrick scored two goals for Middle Country while Jesse Clark, named player of the game, added a goal and two assists.

“It’s been a long couple of years and I never expected that it would end in the State championship,” Middle Country coach Nick Iadanda said. “We had different guys come up big every game and today it was Jesse Clark, who made the difference for us today.”

Middle Country also was awarded the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award.

The Cruzers will represent ENYYSA in the Region I tournament in Lancaster, Pa. from June 28 to July 3.
