MASOTTO/DRISCOLL SCHOLARSHIP
Marino rewarded for athletics, academics

Reanna Marino of Massapequa, N.Y. was awarded the Patricia Louise Masotto/Brenda Driscoll scholarship by Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association.

The $1,000 scholarship capped off a memorable year. She won a high school state championship with St. Anthony’s High School last fall and the State Open Cup crown with the Massapequa Force on June 3. Marino has been playing for the Force for the past nine years.

She also Reanna received scholarships from the Massapequa Soccer Club and the Long Island Junior Soccer League and ow from ENNYSA.

The ENYSSA scholarship’s namesakes, Masotto and Driscoll of Massapequa, were best friends and top women’s soccer players. ENYYSA set up a scholarship in their name after they were killed by a drunk driver in Farmingdale in 1985.

Marino was an Honor Roll student at St. Anthony’s and was selected as Most Valuable Player of the 2010 Long Island championship game, a 2-1 victory over Kellenberg High School.

She also played for ENYYSA’s ODP for the past eight years and also serves as a youth soccer referee.

Marino will attend Villanova University this fall.
