Red Bulls U-16's, U-18's victorious in Montreal

The Red Bulls' Under-18 and U-16 teams won their games in Montreal in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy this past weekend.

The Red Bulls recorded a 4-1 victory.

In the 32nd minute, forward Alex Muyl pressured a defender and created a turnover. He gained possession and passed to midfielder Arun Basuljevic in the penalty area. Basuljevic sent a cross to the back post as forward Izzy Tandir scored.

Within a minute, the Red Bulls doubled the lead. Defender Ousmane Sanogo’s headed clearance found the feet of Tandir, who turned and slipped the ball to substitute Kyle Goodwin in behind the back four. Goodwin blasted a left-footed shot into the lower left hand corner of the net from just inside the penalty area.

The Red Bulls were awarded a penalty kick in the 40th minute and Muyl converted it for his first goal of the season. Midfielder Erik Sa added a fourth for the Red Bulls in the second half.

The U-16 team improved to 3-0 after defeating the Impact, 4-0.

Alex Tejera got on the board first, outjumping the goalkeeper to head home a Joe Swenson cross. Kevin Politz scored just after halftime with a left-footed shot from 22 yards. Henry Martin made it 3-0 when he headed in a Derrick Etienne corner kick and Dante Perez sealed the win off a Tejera pass. Gianni Carillo and Alex Coste split time in goal for the shutout.
