A PERFECT RECORD
Red Bull Academy teams go 9-0
The New York Red Bulls Academy teams combined for a perfect 9-0 record last weekend.
Three straight victories by the Under-13 team kicked things off for New York, as the squad posted a 2-0 win over the Cosmos, defeated Albertson, 6-0, and closed the weekend out with a 3-0 victory over PDA.
The U-14 Red Bulls registered two wins with back-to-back victories of the Baltimore Bays and Seacoast United. Not only did the Red Bulls remain unbeaten, but they handed the Bays their first loss of the season behind a 2-1 triumph. The Red Buls cruised to avictory over Seacoast United after scoring five first-half goals and shutting out the opposition.
In U-15 action, the team rolled to two wins as it opened up a three-day tournament with a convincing 5-0 win over Potomac. Five players cracked the score sheet. It was all Jerel Blades on the second day of the tourney, as he helped power the Red Bulls past Seacoast, 2-1, in the dying moments of the match.
Thanks to a 6-2 win over Albertson, the U-16 Red Bulls remained undefeated. Matt McCarthy opened up the scoring on a feed from Derrick Etienne before Ettiene added two goals of his own to give the Red Bulls a 3-2 halftime lead. Harrison Steadman helped pad the lead with two tallies, one off a free kick and the other courtesy of another pass from Etienne. Alex Tejera rounded out the scoring when he sent an Anthony Viteri pass into the netting.
The U-18 squad played in a bit of a nail-biter against Albertson but managed to walk away with a 1-0 win thanks to a 48th-minute goal from Izzy Tandir, his third of the year. Albertson organized a formidable attack, but the Red Bulls’ defense and solid goalkeeping from Santiago Castano helped New York win.
