MLK vies for its 14th PSAL title on Sunday

Martin Luther King High School has reached the Public School Athletic League boys soccer final for the 17th time.

And the sun also rises.

MLK will play Aviation High School of Queens at Randall's Island Stadium on Sunday (TBA, either 5 or 6 p.m.) as the Knights vie for an unprecedented 14th championship.

The top-seeded Knights (15-0) recorded a 4-0 victory over No. 4 Clinton in the PSAL Class A final on Monday.

Amara Sesay, Michael Henry, Dale Brissett and Kerfala Sylla scored for MLK.

“It feels really gratifying,” MLK coach Martin Jacobson told MSG Varsity. “We worked so hard all this year. The kids played well today. They took advantage of where we need to. We had had the possession and the domination. They were one of the top teams in the city.”

Aviation, the 19th seed, registered a 3-2 win over seventh-seeded Tottenville on Monday.

“We cannot take them lightly as underdogs or anything,” Henry told MSG Varsity. “We got to look at them like they are the second seed and go at them hard.”
