NSCAA to honor Gansler, Farnsworth
Former U.S. national coach Bob Gansler and Jeff Farnsworth will be honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Gansler will receive recognition at the organization's coaches convention in Indianapolis, Ind. next month for his work in youth soccer while Farnsworth will be honored for his time and efforts in high school soccer.
Gansler was named the winner of the Charlotte Moran Award. He has coached at all levels, winning an MLS Cup with the Kansas City Wizards in 2000 and directing the United States to its first World Cup in 40 years at Italia '90. He also has been active in youth and club soccer. Gansler, who is retired, became one of the nation’s top youth soccer educators as he currently serves as an NSCAA national staff coach.
Farnsworth, who coached at Spencerport High School in suburban Rochester, N.Y. will receive the Robert W. Robinson Award. He also coached at the youth and ODP levels and was a college assistant and W-League coach.
