4 Red Bulls Academy players in Bradenton spring semester
Four Red Bulls Academy products were included in the list of players named to the 31-man roster for the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team residency spring semester.
Midfielders Steven Echevarria (Slate Hill, N.Y.) and Christopher Lema (Ridgefield, N.J.) join goalkeeper Evan Louro (South River, N.J.) and forward Wesley Wade (South Orange, N.J.) at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla.
“We are very excited about the group of players that we brought in this semester,” U.S. U-17 national coach Richie Williams said. “We feel very confident in this group that will provide us with 20 players to go on to World Cup qualifying and hopefully through a successful World Cup qualifying campaign, and will lead us to this year’s World Cup.”
The full-time residency program hosts daily training sessions for the players, use of the IMG Academies facilities and classes at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. Players also will have access to state-of-the-art strength-training facilities, dormitories, and meal rooms.
The U.S. U-17 MNT will compete in the 2013 CONCACAF Championship in Panama from April 6-19. The U.S. and Panama will be joined by Barbados, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago.
